Random Tidbits

We had another busy weekend! Friday night, we went out to dinner as a family. Then Saturday, we left the house around 12:30 and didn't return until about 8 p.m. We started out at a Community Center where they have an indoor playground that includes an area just for toddlers. Brecken was pretty shy at first, but after warming up he was soon running all over laughing and giggling. Then we headed over to my parents' house to put him down for his afternoon nap, and D.J. and I went to pick out some new glasses for D.J. After nap time, we were off to my aunt and uncle's to celebrate my grandma's 80th birthday! Sunday we left home around 11 and were again gone until close to 8! We went up to St. Cloud for lunch and met DJ's family for lunch to celebrate his dad's birthday. Brecken slept on the way home, and then we were off to swimming lessons, dinner, and church. We got home, put Brecken to bed, and then it was time for me to start grading papers and preparing for the week ahead (Thankfully, D.J. finished the laundry during this time!) I'm doing report cards this week and conferences next week - busy, busy!

Brecken went back to the dr. last week, and his ears looked much better! There was still some fluid there, but it wasn't nearly as bad as before and no infection - yea! We head back to the pediatrician in a couple weeks for his 18-month check-up (Yes, 18 MONTHS, can you believe it?) so she will take another look at that time and hopefully all of the fluid will be gone. Brecken is still pulling on his ears all of the time, but she thinks that his ears are bothering him from teething since it's all connected. We were very thankful that the fluid had gone down, so we don't have to look into the problem any further at this point.

Oh, and I have to share this adorable thing Brecken has started to do...We have recently been working on teaching him basic body parts (eyes, ears, nose, tongue, etc.) Whenever we ask him where his eyes are, he smiles and does a real slow blink. It is so cute (although I'm probably a little biased ;) I've been trying to catch it on video so I can share it, but I haven't been able to get a very good one yet.
